OK so I know I missed you guys Wed on my usual post up day, and Thur due to work. Better late then never! I have been going through a bit of some family issues and haven't been focused much lately because of it! Despite the sorrow in family life, I have a little something for you guys to ponder.....

I was searching the net for some funny pictures editing something for "The Sweet Life" and came across a photo that in the posting was dead serious in selling and thought it was a hit!

I am alllllll about fashion and innovation, I am also for pushing the envelope and making trends, not following rules... but hmm this is just a whole other ball game to me!!!

(Insert Drum roll here )

Unless you're the costume designer for the animated comedy "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs" Then you have no business even trying to put this out there!! I'm just saying! This isn't even stated as a costume but as a "Trend" ummmmmm *scratching head*...
To save the maker the embarrassment I'm just going to leave the names out of it and freely talk smack about this tragedy! Well kiddies, that it for now! There isn't much else to say about this, since it screams for itself! :)
Till next time....

"Wordless Wednesday"

Wish I had a little more to talk about but I'm just at a loss for words this Wednesday. Due to some personal crap and the fact that I'm sick out of my mind I have writers block!! I started writing something and 2 paragraphs in I realized I hated it lol! I felt as though I was forcing it. Rather that I leave you with something that isn't close to what I'd approve of putting out there for you, I'll just leave this as something I'd rather you write for yourself. So how about I call this my 1st "Wordless Wednesday" here's a picture I took of a paper piece that a photographer that did my sisters headshots made! It’s something that caught my eye and I loved, and it’s just how I feel right now! Enjoy :)

Should I be...

Jillian Valentin

I've come a long way from where I once was, as I was in a bad place, mentally, emotionally, career wise! I have had ups and downs. And am still pushing to make it! Ever since ULR and SLJE I have been happier then I have been in a long time! B4 this I was in a music group busting my ass, pushing for us to make and was carrying all the weight alone! I have been taken advantage of a whole lot in my life because I am what my close friends call me "Too Nice". Somehow it doesn't stop me from being good to people even when they aren't doing the same back!

I still have my moments that are less happy then others but over all I feel I'm in a good place. For some reason I can't let go of the over trying, over thinking, "Too Nice" person in me... I have thick skin, however should I be different? Should I be a lil bit meaner and take advantage of the people just like ones who have to me, with out one thought?

Have you ever asked yourself that b4? Are you too nice? I do have very few people in my life that are just as I am, maybe some that tougher, but they are good to me! Mentally I'm too helpful and unselfish of a person to be in this industry, but my heart wants what it wants. Not everyone is going to be great to everyone, but at least you might be lucky enough to find a few who see the same way you do! In the end, just be who you are no matter how much you may be pushed around! Keep your head up and know that Karma will take care of the rest!

"Following the road less traveled by"!

Jillian Valentin
www.Twitter.com/JillianValentin
JillianV@urbanlatinoradio.fm

In my years in this beautiful life, I know as well as everyone else that the hardest thing to do in this world is live in it! But another fact that's hard to grasp is "following the road less traveled by"!

Would you give up the strait path you've worked so hard for, to chase a dream? Even if you’d make less then half of what u have to start but you would be happier?
For many people that's a pill that's hard to swallow!

I have never done everything like everyone else, I have always shifted my own path, studding one thing after another leaving when I was finished, yet I lost interest and started something else. I always took a chance for my happiness rather then stick on a strait path that would probably be a smarter choice. But my passion for happiness was, and is greater then wealth! Is that wrong? Would you give it up for a chance, risk it all at the bottom of your dream? I haven't always known what I wanted, but I knew what I loved and I knew I would never be satisfied if I wasn't doing exactly the thing that made me happy, even if it meant a lot more tears and a lot more sacrifice.

Let's say you studied years and years, honor student, started off teaching, then knew it wasn't enough, so went back with depression and all and became a lawyer after many more years, achieved the American dream, was ok and only getting better! Would you give it all up to peruse acting? Start at the bottom and chance everything you worked for? Just to give yourself the chance to live the life you have always secretly wanted? My sister is doing just that! What's crazier is I always wished I followed the unhappier strait line instead of this crazy fantasy of happiness that causes me grayer hairs then heart break, but I love what I do regardless. And the day that she opened up saying she admired my strength in following my dream, I knew maybe this, my dream, was all for her! And was happier for it!

We are told since were able to understand that we follow a path and live a normal life. But some of us risk it all for the thrill of the un known, for the smile of knowing your doing what you want even in the struggle of it. I remember when I met my friend and designer of Laurelux who was working at another design company and doing her designs on the side. We spoke one day about her leaving her job so that she could take a risk and chance on herself for once to follow her dream! Tons of magazines, shows, and celeb’s later, she's doing exactly what she loves and not looking back!

Everything I have gone through has lead me to this moment even just writing this blog that gives me my passion for writing, right back! Could you do it? Would you do it? It may not be what everyone feels is right but I'm happier struggling doing what I love then sitting in my old office, stable and in a great financial place, then helping someone else I didn’t believe in, get on stage and in front of a camera, make it instead of me or an artist I actually believed deserved it! I'm not saying give up school because its the one thing you should follow! God forbid it all fails at least you have an education, however I guess I'm just saying if you have no other priorities but yourself could you give up the painted yellow brick road for the un paved, un leveled, over grown weeded up foggy path? Just for the sense of happiness? This isn't something I can answer for you as I already have for myself. But maybe this might make you appreciate or chase what's in your heart!
Good Luck.

The Power Of 23

"The younger man"

Dating in this day and age is hard enough, first impression is everything... Right? I see bad relationships on a daily basis and if that isn't discouraging enough, there are just too many "bad guys" or girls out there! (Pause for heavy sigh). Society makes it ok for a older man to date a younger woman and that's ok, naturally a woman is at a 5 year difference in maturity then a man younger then her, possibly more in my case. (Usually my luck!) But what about some of those instances where it works out? Take Demi more and Ashton they seem to make it work and he's damn near close to the age of her older daughter. But in the public eye, those who grew up in front of a camera grow up faster. I guess, but what about in "real life" is it possible for an older woman to be with a younger man even if there not on the same wave length? Maybe when they are both at a happy med and both are mature, but what about in there early 20s? And if so how can you make it work?

I have this personal joke with friends that everyone now a days is 23 years old, I came to this observation since all I meet are 23 year olds or if they aren't, they are 22 a month or 2 away from 23 or about to turn 24, but always in that range! I don't know if half of them are lying or what but trust me, now that I have said it you'll notice it too!! I'm not old and in my early 20s however its safe to say I have an old soul and feel a lot older then what I am anyways lol. I had been in a relationship with a younger man when I was 20 and he was 18, (he lied of his age when we met) you may not think this is a huge gap but this kid was all over the place! He had a good heart but was the biggest player I know! However he was very young and just getting his feet wet in dating so I don’t hold a grudge to that.

Its hard enough to be a woman now a days trying to settle yourself with no help and live your dream all your own, then have a younger guy who's still trying to figure it all out when you passed that long ago! It’s difficult to say the least. What if a woman is 26 and the guy just turned 24? Do you think that would work? A 2-year gap is a lot more in emotional years! As my sisters boyfriend has said, a “24 year old man is 14 in girl years” lol. I know this girl in this age situation and at times they are great from what I see! Seem happy, however although she seems content with the way it is and isn't pushing it to go further, he does things that set her back! She's attentive, and takes his time seriously where as he's always on a whim. She meets him and if she's trying to talk, he's on his skateboard barely paying attention. She makes her way to see him and the only times he's done it for her is last min. As though his other plans failed or he's done what was better b4 choosing her. Hmmm I don't know what this seems like, or what else it could be, maybe another woman or maybe just a huge gap in maturity. I say both and mainly another woman… and dun duuunnn duuuunnn.. I was actually correct! She found out too little too late! Ah well.

Ladies if you catch yourself in this situation then may I suggest you weigh the options, pros and cons. If its something that you feel is more good then bad and might possibly grow then stick around and enjoy yourself it can get better. But in any relationship no matter age or matter reason, if it’s bad its bad and don't ever expect anyone to change or join you on a page they aren't ready for! Save yourself the trouble and let it go!
In every relationship beginning there is always a point and time where you have that chance to break free, the time where you pause and you know you can leave b4 you get attached! That's when you really need to get it right, because after that you just get in way too deep! Well that's it for my opinion on this! Good luck to all in any relationship.

Talk to ya soon!

Lets Just call this an introduction

By Jillian Valentin

JillianV@urbanlatinoradio.fm

Loyalty is a small word that has a big meaning. Not too many people in this industry have the definition of that word locked in there brain. However as tainted as it may be and in New York itself, it’s less likely to find someone who isn't an artist, producer, personality, model, rapper, label owner, manager, more or all the above. What's crazier is the 6 degrees of separation; where someone you just met knows someone who knows or works with someone you know. In the ups and downs of radio, labels, music fashion any or all the aspects of "the industry", there are a few who are actually in it with an untainted heart, and a passion that continues to be un harmed. People, who actually still believe, are in it for the love of what they do and are genuine people with no ill intentions. Two of those people who I know are... Dun dun duuuunnn... (Pause for reaction) myself and ms Erica Lopez! Yes you knew that was coming!

For those that aren't aware of who we are at Urban Latino Radio, well…. Here's a brief description. Erica Lopez a writer, Dancer, radio host and Public Relations dreamer, who vastly made her dream of being in PR, and Social Media, a paved road to follow in a short amount of time. Still learning about her myself, what I know her dedication is as big as her heart and I'm proud to have her in my life. I’ll let her give you her own introduction. Me hmm well, quickly... Solo Singer, TV host, to rec label intern, to promo dept rec label guru, to assistant at island def jam, to writer to Singer in a 3 member group, to singer in a duo, back to solo artist, to TV host again to Radio Host and so on.. It’s been a long road.

Erica and I met in the Reality Show Pilot "Americas next radio Show host", a competition for the one co-host spot on a show at urbanlatinoradio.com and at first we were cool, then I hated her… Then some how along the way loved her. We didn't win the contest however was brought on to co host "The Talent Show" on Wednesdays with the shows host and solo host its Thursdays in which we subtitled "Thirsty Thursday" it was an amazing time! In that time we both had many ideas running thru our veins so we decided to make it a reality.

One move was, we started our own website, for as we call it "all things amazing" and as a public relations company to up and comers. The inspiration coming from the shows we did at Urban and the backs of Angela the station manager and Alex the station owner. Due to the separation and little tiffs of the radio show it was postponed then ended, on our part and the other co-hosts. Although many of you who loved our silly convos and random chats, with great celeb interviews, The Talent Show was returned to its original format, and as it should have been. Those of you, who were fans, don't be sad, because this is just the beginning!

Because we are still newbies in the radio game and I'm no rookie in front of the camera, and Ms Erica has been strutting her stuff in front as well, we came up with a better way for you guys to have our silliness once again! So here's the intro… We know you loved the radio show even more when we had a live feed. So now joining teams with TheSweeLifeOfJandE.com and our beloved UrbanLatinoRadio.com we bring you weekly webisodes of our first Urban Latino Radio WebTV Show, “The Sweet Life” yes you get to have us a little longer! Besides our blogs on urban, that will be updated regularly we will have our mini show! With our normal crazy selves, celeb interviews, and much much more! We also bring you our new Dj, Dj PM who will be showing you what he has throughout the show!

So now that I have posted my first blog entry on ULR, mixed with a little intro to what's to come, this is me! I will keep you up to date on behind the scenes on urban Latino, celeb parties or sarcastic remarks you just love me putting out there for you!! Besides that I give you my perspective on product reviews, situations of random conversation, relationship info and whatever else I might wanna vent on! ;) So stick around, stay tuned and check out our other great writers, including Erica's blogs. Thanks for being avid fans of urban Latino radio! We effin love you!! ;)
